Archero

Archero is a roguelike action game where your archer hero automatically attacks while you control movement to dodge incoming attacks. Each chapter presents increasingly dangerous rooms filled with unique enemies, bouncing projectiles, and explosive hazards. Level up during each run to select powerful abilities from a randomised pool — combining the right skills creates unstoppable synergies. Permanent equipment upgrades carry between runs, gradually increasing survivability as you learn each world's mechanics.

Archero popularised the auto-attack dodge-em-up genre on mobile and remains one of the best examples of it. The ability selection system creates the satisfying "build" moment unique to roguelikes, where a well-timed ability draw transforms your power level. Movement precision is genuinely important and develops real skill over time. The energy system limits how many runs you can attempt before hitting a cooldown, which prevents both burnout and unlimited free progress — a compromise many players find reasonable.

Never stand still for extended periods — constantly reposition to reset projectile patterns and dodge approaching enemies. Prioritise Abilities in this order: multishot, ricochet, diagonal attacks, and then defensive skills. Stand in corners to benefit from ricochet projectiles bouncing back into enemies. When selecting equipment, focus on upgrading your weapon first as it directly scales your damage output. Bosses have specific attack patterns — learn them to minimise damage taken and maximise damage windows.
